Helen Matzger

Helen Matzger leads a team that works with global, regional and country partners to accelerate the introduction, scale and quality implementation of high impact vaccines, including HPV, measles, PCV, rotavirus, cholera, typhoid and Yellow Fever. After joining the foundation in 2011, she worked with partners to establish the first cholera vaccine stockpile and engaged on delivery issues around the 2014 Ebola outbreak.  Between 2017-2019 Helen was seconded to the World Health Organization. Helen brings broad public health experience to her vaccines work; she has worked in both the non-profit and public sectors on nutritional surveillance, water, sanitation and hygiene, alcohol and drug research, and clinical trials for neglected tropical diseases.

Helen lived for multiple years in Dhaka, Bangladesh and in Patna, India.  While there she led large and complex research projects involving many partners in national and global settings.  Helen studied international development and South Asian studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and received an M.P.H. from the University of Michigan.
